Apply to Host AmeriCorps Members in your Community School!
The Office of Community Schools (OCS) has partnered Coalition of Community Schools to bring 120 AmeriCorps members to New York City for 3 years! These members will be serving as Success Mentors at your school.

**THIS PARTNERSHIPS IS CONTINGENT UPON FEDERAL FUNDING FROM THE CORPORATION FOR NATIONAL AND COMMUNITY SERVICE (CNCS), which will be announced on May 15th.**

In the meantime, we are moving ahead with plans to place members at Community Schools and are currently accepting applications(Word version available for planning purposes only).

Who is a Success Mentor?
A Success Mentor is a caring individual designated to work with chronically absent students. They help these students address the barriers keeping them from coming to school through one-on-one and small group interventions.

(More tools and resources can be found on the Success Mentor page of our website.)

Why AmeriCorps?
There are many benefits of AmeriCorps for both Community Schools and Members.

For schools, it provides a viable funding stream to establish or grow a Success Mentor Program and support additional chronically absent students.

For members, it is an introduction to careers in Education and Social Work, as well as a way to help pay for post-secondary education. For AmeriCorps Member benefits, requirements, application, please visit here
